The wildlife trade

In what may be one of the most depressing articles I've read in a while, Bryan Christy writes about one of the kingpins of the illegal wildlife trade and how difficult it is to actually stop this horrific situation. You can find the full article at National Geographic. It is worth reading, just for some education, but do it right before you watch a sitcom or something, because it IS depressing.

The idea that this guy could turn his attention to the few remaining wild tigers in the world. Well, it just sort of makes me want to cry.

  1. Unfortunately the reality of the illegal wildlfie trade in South East Asia is much worse than even Bryan Christy reports. The volume of illegally traded wildlife to Vietnam and China through from other SE Asian nations is truely frightening. I applaud Bryan Christy's efforts to wake up the rest of the world to the seriousness of this catastrophic illegal trade that is draining the forests of SE Asia of its wildlife.

  2. Troy, thanks for the comment. This makes it even more depressing for me. Not sure what we can do on the other side of the globe to try and affect change though. Any thoughts?
